La movidaLa Movida Madrileña ("The Madrilene moving") is a sociocultural movement that took place in Madrid during the 80s triggered by the explosion of liberties after the death of Fascist dictator Francisco Franco and the economical rise of Spain. Although la movida is a term that only defines that hedonistic and cultural wave in Madrid, other urban centers (such as Barcelona) also had social movement. Outside of Spain the best known artist from that period is Pedro Almodóvar, whose first films (such as Pepi, Luci, Bom y otras chicas del montón--1980) reflected the freedom of the moment. Other artists important in la movida are Aviador Dro, Alaska (who hosted the hip children show La Bola de Cristal), Los Nikis, Radio Futura among others.
